A beautiful day in wine country with my favorite little guy.

Dear Friends,

I’ve just returned from a weekend in the Bay Area, celebrating my nephew’s second birthday (remember all the way back to the long wait for his arrival?).

Few things in life bring me as much joy as being an auntie. Given how quickly my own kiddos are growing up (my youngest turns 10 next week!), it’s an experience I don’t want to miss a minute of.

With a bicoastal family, visits are both rare and meaningful. I’m already lamenting all the new words and cool tricks my little Smoosh will have mastered by the next time I see him. Thank goodness for FaceTime.

June is a rich and busy season around here. Between birthdays and the end of school, the launch into summer is always more like a catapult than a slide.

And as of today, we are in it.

My children have officially started summer break, and I, their mom/social director/chauffeur, am about to embark on '“summer school.”
